Europe opens higher, all eyes on ECB

Major stock exchanges in Europe started the Monday session trading with gains as investors awaited the European Central Bank's next monetary policy move, which will be revealed on September 14. In addition, the attention this week will also be on the inflation report from the world's largest economy, the United States.

The DAX gained 0.38% at the opening bell, with Heidelberg Materials up 1.31% at 9:03 am CET. The FTSE 100 rose 0.32% at the open, as Anglo American jumped 2.87% at 9:01 am CET. The CAC 40 added 0.51% at 9:00 am CET, with Alstom up 1.43% a minute later. The Euro Stoxx 50 increased 0.48% at the start of the session, as Intesa Sanpaolo rose 2%.

The euro traded 0.29% above the dollar at 8:58 am CET, selling for 1.07339. The pound was up 0.40% against the greenback to go for 1.2187 concurrently.
