Russia's Soyuz MS-24 docks with ISS

The Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft, launched by Russian state space agency Roscosmos on Friday, successfully docked with the International Space Station.

The docking was confirmed at 2:53 pm ET and the flight from Earth to the ISS took three hours and nine minutes. Russian cosmonaut and crew Commander Oleg Kononenko could become the first person to spend more than 1,000 days in space, according to the TASS news agency, as he and fellow crew member Nikolay Chub are expected to spend a year on the mission.

The third crew member, United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration astronaut Loral O'Hara, will be at the station for six months.
