Ukraine takes action at WTO against 3 EU states

Ukraine's First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Trade Yuliia Svyrydenko (pictured) confirmed on Monday that Kiev initiated proceedings at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against Slovakia, Poland and Hungary.

"It is fundamentally important for us to prove that individual member states cannot ban the import of Ukrainian goods. That is why we file lawsuits against them at the WTO. At the same time, we hope that these states will lift their restrictions and we will not have to clarify the relationship in the courts for a long time," Svyrydenko said in a statement.

Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, all European member states, continued to impose or introduce additional measures to block the import of agricultural and other products from Ukraine even though the the European Commission ended the restrictions on September 15.
