Kim hopes for closer ties with China in message to Xi

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un (pictured left) sent a message to Chinese President Xi Jinping (right) after Xi sent congratulations for North Korea's 75th anniversary. "The invariable support and encouragement of the Chinese party, government and people are powerfully inspiring our party, government and people in their struggle to defend and advance socialism victoriously," Kim said, according to state media outlet KCNA.

Kim also expressed the belief that North Korea and China will "closely promote their solidarity and cooperation" and that their relations will steadily develop "in conformity with the requirements of the new era and the desire of the two peoples in the future."
