US sanctions 5 entities, 2 individuals over Iran's UAV program
The US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said on Wednesday that it had sanctioned five entities and two individuals concerning Iran's one-way attack uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) program.
The network, based in Iran, the People's Republic of China (PRC), Hong Kong, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), facilitated shipments and financial operations to procure servo motors, a component used in producing UAVs.
"Iranian-made UAVs continue to be a key tool for Russia in its attacks in Ukraine, including those that terrorize Ukrainian citizens and attack its critical infrastructure," said Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson.
