Europe closes higher after inflation reports

Major European stock indexes closed Thursday's session with gains as investors digested the latest economic data from the continent. During the day, it was revealed that German annual inflation fell to 4.5% in September, while Spanish inflation rose to 3.5% in the same month. In addition, the European Commission disclosed that consumer confidence in the European Union declined in the ninth month of the year.

The DAX closed 0.70% higher, with MTU Aero Engines NA soaring 3.85%. The CAC 40 added 0.63%, while ArcelorMittal advanced 2.27%. The FTSE 100 rose 0.11%, with Smiths Group improving by 3.31%.The pan-European Euro Stoxx 50 went up 0.72%, as Banco Santander climbed 4.45%.

The euro was up by 0.62% against the dollar at 5:28 pm CET, selling for $1.05681. In comparison, the pound gained 0.58% to go for $1.22055 at the same time.
