Turkey launches airstrike in Iraq after bomb attack in Ankara

Turkish Ministry of National Defense confirmed on Sunday that it carried out an airstrike in northern Iraq following a bomb attack which left at least one person killed and several others injured in Ankara. According to the statement, Turkey conducted an aerial operation targeting military bases belonging to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Gara, Hakurk, Metina, and Qandil, resulting in the destruction of 20 targets.

Earlier in the day, two assailants killed a civilian and hijacked his vehicle. The two unnamed individuals arrived outside the Turkish Interior Ministry building in the country's capital during the morning hours on Sunday. In the incident, one of the attackers detonated explosives inside the vehicle, while the other one was "neutralized." A news agency affiliated with the PKK reported that the group has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack in the Turkish capital.
