Antonov: Russia to pick own APEC representative
Moscow's ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, said that Russia will independently decide who will represent the country at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in San Francisco in November.
He clarified that the role of the United States, as the chairman of APEC, is to send invitations to all participating nations but does not involve determining Russia's delegation.
This statement comes in response to earlier indications from the State Department suggesting that Washington doesn't expect Russian President Vladimir Putin to participate in the summit.
