Swiss inflation up by 0.1 pp to 1.7% in September

Switzerland's national consumer price index (CPI) rose by 1.7% in September compared to the same month the previous year, the country's Federal Statistical Office reported on Tuesday. The figure represents a slight increase from the previous month's 1.6%.

On a monthly basis, the index decreased by 0.1% to hit 106.3 points. The report attributed the monthly decline to falling prices for hotels and supplementary accommodations, as well as lower prices for air transport and international and domestic package holidays. On the other hand, price increases were observed in fuels, heating oil, clothing, footwear, and leisure-time courses.

The Swiss Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) climbed 2.0% year on year and dropped 0.2% month on month.
