VDL praises Armenia's ratification of ICC entry statute
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hailed on Tuesday the Armenian parliament's decision to become a party to the International Criminal Court (ICC) by ratifying the Rome Statute.
"The world is getting smaller for the autocrat in the Kremlin," von der Leyen wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Armenia has joined 123 states committed to the rule of law."
Yerevan's decision came amid the alleged cooling of the relations between Russia and Armenia, which intensified during the latest clashes between the latter country and Azerbaijan in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. Meanwhile, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov described the Caucasian nation's move as "wrong," adding that Moscow already sent several questions on the matter to Yerevan.
