WH: Forever war not fair term for Ukraine conflict

The White House's National Security Council (NSC) Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby stressed on Tuesday that the term "forever war" should not be applied to describe the conflict in Ukraine.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Kirby also rejected comparisons made between the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to the one in Ukraine, noting that on the latter occasion, the United States does not have its own troops participating in it. He went on to describe it as purely "Ukraine's war."

Commenting on the options for ending the conflict, Kirby underscored that it can be done only in a way that is "comfortable" for the people of Ukraine and its President Volodymyr Zelensky. He went on to insist Washington's help for Ukraine is necessary as the US possesses weapons and defense capabilities like no other.
