Wall Street up premarket with housing data ahead

Major stock markets in New York stood higher in premarket trade on Friday ahead of new data on housing starts and building permits in the United States, set to be released before the stock exchanges open. Earlier this week, consumer inflation was reported to have weakened to 3.2% in October, providing optimism that the Federal Reserve's restrictive monetary policy is nearing its end.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index gained 0.23% or 80 points, the Nasdaq 100 advanced 0.09% and the S&P 500 was up 0.20% at 4:09 am ET.

The euro was 0.06% higher compared to the US dollar, changing hands for 1.08515 at the same time.
