Erdogan: Israel's remarks diminish hope for lasting peace in Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed on Wednesday that recent statements from the Israeli government "diminish" the prospects of the humanitarian pause growing into a lasting ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Speaking at his party's meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Erdogan accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of committing one of the "greatest atrocities" of the century and underscored that Netanyahu will be remembered in history as the "butcher" of Gaza.

The Turkish president also stated that Ankara will step up diplomatic efforts to secure the release of hostages and establish a lasting ceasefire in the Palestinian enclave.
