Gaza ministry: 15,899 people dead since Oct. 7

Gaza's Health Ministry said on Monday that at least 15,899 Palestinians have been killed since the current conflict with Israel began on October 7. The ministry spokesman said around 70% of those killed are women and children.

The number of injured people is at least 42,000, according to the latest data. The ministry said the healthcare system in Gaza has been "completely incapacitated" and that 35 medical personnel, including the director-general of al-Shifa Hospital, according to Al Jazeera. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said around 1.9 million people have been displaced since the start of the conflict, accounting for over 80% of the Gaza population. 1.2 million of the refugees are sheltering in 156 UNRWA installations, the agency said.
