Biden: Halting Ukraine funds would be gift for Putin

United States President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that if Congress does not pass his $105 billion national security supplemental request that includes over $60 billion for Ukraine, it would be the "greatest gift" his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin "could hope for."

Russian forces are committing "war crimes," Biden alleged in a speech he held at the White House, accusing Moscow of carrying out "atrocities against Ukrainian civilians." If Russia is not stopped now, it could attack a NATO member country, which would result in a direct conflict between Russian and US troops, he also claimed.

Speaking about Republicans putting priority on the situation at the US-Mexico border instead of Ukraine, Biden noted that he supports real solutions at the border and that he would be willing to make "significant compromises" on the issue, pointing out that the US "broken immigration system" should be fixed.
