Nissan looking to lay off 15% staff worldwide - report

Nissan Motor Co. is seeking to slash over 20,000 jobs or around 15% of its total workforce as part of its restructuring plans which came up following the company's declining sales prompted by the coronavirus pandemic, Kyodo News reported on Friday.

Unnamed sources claimed the Japanese carmaker is considering laying off staff in Europe, as well as in some "emerging countries."

Since the beginning of the year, Nissan's stocks tumbled over 41%. However, the company's shares started recovering some losses as of May.
