Nissan: New cars to be electric by early 2030s

Every single all-new Nissan vehicle for sale in Japan, China, the US and Europe will be electric by early 2030s, Nissan said in a press release on Wednesday as it announced that it plans to go fully carbon-neutral by 2050.

The carmaker stressed that it will focus on innovations throughout the production lifecycle. In particular, Nissan said it is planning to focus on battery development, achieving better energy efficiency in its e-POWER electrified powertrains, decarbonization of power grids and creating energy-efficient factories.

"Our offering in electrified vehicles will continue to expand around the world, and this will make a major contribution to Nissan becoming carbon neutral. We will continue to drive innovation that enriches people’s lives as we pursue a sustainable future for all," CEO Makoto Uchida said.
