Nissan recalling 150K cars over improper testing

Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. is recalling around 150,000 vehicles as a result of improper inspections of brakes, steer wheels, speed measurements and vehicle stability in Japan, the company announced on Friday. Nissan noted it "newly found several non-conformities that may have caused inaccurate pass/fail judgments."

Last year, the Japanese carmaker recalled over 1.2 million vehicles after revealing thousands of cars it released in the Japanese market that had been checked by uncertified staff.

The latest recall represents another hit to the company which has been affected by a scandal after its Chairman Carlos Ghosn was arrested last month on financial fraud charges. According to media reports, Japanese prosecutors are set to file charges against Nissan for not stopping Ghosn from falsely reporting his salaries.
