Nissan to invest $300M in electric car technologies

Nissan Motor Co. will invest $300 million (¥33 billion) in its Tochigi plant in Japan in 2020, in an effort to further develop advanced technologies aimed at the manufacturing of electric vehicles, the company said in a statement on Thursday. Following the initial investment, those technologies will be rolled out in carmakers' plants around the world.

"We're facing an unprecedented evolution in the capabilities of our vehicles," Hideyuki Sakamoto, Nissan's executive vice president for manufacturing and supply chain management noted. "Our job is to make this evolution a reality by rethinking how we build cars," he underlined.
