Nissan to review capital structure of Renault alliance

Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.'s CEO Hiroto Saikawa (pictured) stated that Japanese carmaker will review the current capital structure and postpone the negotiations on the deepening of its alliance with Renault SA, local media reported.

During the annual shareholders' meeting, Saikawa said that Nissan will examine whether the existing stock structure causes instability for the functioning of the partnership.

Recently, relations between Nissan and Renault have become strained in the wake of the former top executive of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance Carlos Ghosn's arrest, due to which Nissan pushes for the overhaul of its corporate structure. Currently, the Japanese automotive giant owns 15% of Renault's shares, while the French partner holds a 43.4% stake in Nissan.
