No fundamental refusal of Putin-Zelensky meeting - Kremlin

Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated on Thursday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has never fundamentally rejected the possibility of meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to negotiate the situation in the latter country.

Peskov told reporters that Putin would be willing to attend such a meeting but only if certain conditions are met. He also said there are no ongoing plans for a new round of peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Still, Peskov went on to label Belarus as the perfect place for such meetings.

Peskov's remarks came after Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Ankara is working to organize a meeting between Putin and Zelensky, which depends mostly on the former's consent.
