No lockdown plans for Greater Paris - health director

French health director Jerome Salomon asserted on Tuesday that the government is not planning to introduce new lockdown measures in the area of Greater Paris.

However, Salomon warned the health system in the French capital remains under significant pressure due to the newly detected coronavirus strains.

Since the start of the year, the number of registered COVID-19 cases has stagnated, with the daily average standing at around 21,000. France has recorded 3.9 million positive cases and nearly 89,000 coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic.
