No need for new lockdown measures in Russia - Kremlin

Russia is not considering a possibility of tightening the government's measures to contain a resurgence in coronavirus cases nationwide, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov claimed on Thursday.

Previously, the measures were imposed "to mobilize the healthcare system for the needs of the pandemic," he asserted at a press briefing in Moscow, adding there is no need to put another lockdown in place as Russia's health system is currently well prepared to deal with the increasing number of COVID-19 infections.

"The health care system is mobilized, and this allows us to be much more flexible about the increase in the number of infections, if taken on a daily basis," Peskov said.
