No need for state of emergency in Japan

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga (pictured) told the press on Friday there is no need for the country to reintroduce a state of emergency, despite the coronavirus cases in the capital raising in the past days.

The newly confirmed increase in infections was mostly seen with a younger population, Suga noted, while the more serious cases seem to be on a decline.

The Asian nation announced it would lift its state of emergency back in May, with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe asserting the country aims to shift its focus to economic revival.
