North Korea says it's willing to talk with US

North Korea's First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye-gwan said on Friday that his country is still willing to have talks with the United States "anytime", despite the sudden cancellation of the anticipated summit in Singapore earlier in the day by US President Donald Trump. According to the state news agency KCNA, the diplomat also expressed regret that long-awaited negotiations have been halted against "world's desire."

A summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump is necessary and "urgent," so that "grave hostile relations" between the two countries can be resolved, the official added. For that purpose, Kim Jong-un has "focused all efforts" to prepare for the meeting with Trump.

"We express our willingness to sit down face-to-face with the US and resolve issues anytime and in any format... Our commitment to doing our best for the sake of peace and stability for the world and the Korean Peninsula remains unchanged, and we are open-minded in giving time and opportunity to the US," Kim Kye-gwan stated.
