OIC welcomes 5-day truce extension deal in Sudan

Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha (pictured) on Tuesday welcomed the the five-day ceasefire extension agreement between Sudan's military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

"The agreement is a path towards a permanent ceasefire and an end to the armed conflict in Sudan once and for all," the organization's secretary-general said.

The day before, the United States and Saudi Arabia issued a joint statement announcing a short-term extension deal on truce between the warring parties in Sudan, with both sides agreeing to discuss a permanent ceasefire.
