Pence announces he's running for US president
Former United States Vice President Mike Pence announced on Wednesday that he would be running for president next year. "Different times call for different leadership," he insisted.
Pence announced his race in a video posted on his Twitter account ahead of his campaign kickoff scheduled to take place later today in Iowa. "I believe in the American people, and I have faith God is not done with America yet. Together, we can bring this Country back, and the best days for the Greatest Nation on Earth are yet to come," Pence said.
Addressing the challenges faced by the nation, Pence primarily focused on criticizing the Biden administration and highlighted external challenges such as the war in Ukraine and the strained relations with China. Notably, Pence did not mention former President Donald Trump in his first campaign address.
Trump remains the leading contender to winning the GOP's candidacy, next to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
