PM: Australia's recovery cannot be taken for granted

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison stated that recovery cannot be taken for granted and that the newly unveiled federal budget presents "an economic plan to secure our recovery."

Morrison commented on the budget saying that it was "all about ensuring that we come through the worst pandemic we've seen in 100 years," adding that the country has "come a long way" but there was more to do. He also stated that so far $300 billion has been invested into Australia's recovery and that the country needs to stay on the "the path we set ourselves," with the budget reflecting the new reality.

When pushed on the potential debt that can occur from the spending in the budget, Morrison asserted that the way out of it was through job growth noting that an increase in employment helps restore the budget because "people go from taking support payments to paying taxes."
