Police kill attacker at immigrant jail near Seattle

A gunman throwing incendiary devices on Saturday at an immigration prison in Tacoma, Washington, was shot to death in an intervention by four police officers, local authorities said. They added the incident occurred overnight outside the privately managed Northwest Detention Center near Seattle. The facility holds people pending deportation.

The attack comes a day after the campaign ordered by United States President Donald Trump. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, has the task to round up immigrants in ten cities who are affected by deportation orders. Opponents of the move have protested outside the detention center the previous evening.

The police said they are determining whether the unnamed assailant shot himself or if he was gunned down. Its representatives claimed he caused a vehicle to burn and that he tried to ignite a big propane container and start a fire at the buildings. He is said to have carried a rifle, a satchel and flares.
