Pompeo won't dismiss 2024 run if Trump quits

Former United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo did not dismiss the possibility of a 2024 presidential campaign when asked if he would run in case former President Donald Trump withdrew from the race.

"I'm always up for a good fight. I care deeply about America... I have been part of the conservative moment for an awfully long time now. I aim to keep at it," he told Fox News.

In a recent poll conducted at the Conservative Political Action Conference, if Trump quit the 2024 race, Pompeo would gain 7% of the Republican voters, sharing third place with Senator Ted Cruz and Trump's son Donald Trump Jr. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would become the front-runner without the former US president in contention as he won the support of 43% of respondents, followed by South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem with 11%.
