Pound jumps higher after Barnier-Barclay meeting

Pound sterling continued to rise amid positive statements relating to the progress on the Brexit talks on Friday. After a "constructive" meeting with the United Kingdom's Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay, European Union's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier stated both sides had to be cautious and resolved in the negotiations on Britain's withdrawal from the bloc.

The British currency gained 1.02% at 12:57 pm CET to go for $1.25652. Against the yen, the pound was up 1.30% to change hands for 136.0770 a minute later. Meanwhile, the euro fell 0.74% to sell for £0.87814 at the same time.
