Pound sinks below $1.08, remains at 37-year-low

The British pound continued its downward trend compared to the United States dollar, falling below $1.08 and trading at 37-year-lows. Meanwhile, the dollar has recently been gaining ground amid the Federal Reserve's decision to hike interest rates by 75 basis points. The Bank of England raised rates by 50 basis points.

The pound fell 0.56% against the dollar at 2:14 am CET and sold for 1.07959. Since the start of the year, the British currency has lost over 20% compared to the greenback.
