Progressives, Republicans won't vote on infrastructure today

United States Representative from Washington state Pramila Jayapal said on Thursday that the infrastructure bill that passed the Senate with bipartisan support would not pass the House of Representatives today due to lack of support from enough lawmakers, despite US President Joe Biden's announcement of an intraparty agreement to tackle the issue.

According to Capitol Hill reporters, the "progressive" wing of the congressional Democratic Caucus, who Jayapal represents, will withhold support for the piece of legislation until they get firm assurances from their moderate party colleagues that the reconciliation bill will pass the Senate in tandem with a House vote on infrastructure.

At the same time, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy also revealed that there are "few if any" his fellow Republicans who want to approve the infrastructure bill.
