Psaki: Biden pleased with progress made on rescue plan

White House press secretary Jen Psaki stressed on Wednesday that US President Joe Biden is "pleased with the progress" made in negotiations on the country's next coronavirus stimulus package.

Speaking at a presser in the White House, the press secretary said the bill "needs to have core components" that will allow it to address the needs of Americans.

Referring to reports about Biden greenlighting phasing out of $1,400 direct stimulus checks, Psaki explained the president is "is open to good ideas and proposals that will strengthen the package," though he is "firm and unmovable" on some important parts of the bill, including $1,400 checks to US citizens that were hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
