WH: Market 'up 15% compared to when Biden took office'

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said on Monday, commenting on today's market fall, that the administration focuses "on the trends in the economy, not anyone day."

"I would note that the market is up around 15% compared to when President Biden took office. But our measure of success is really how real working families are doing (…), and we've seen a great deal of progress made on that front," stated Psaki. In addition, she also mentioned that, unlike the Trump administration, the president does not look "at the stock market as a mean by which to judge the economy."

Earlier, major US stock markets extended losses, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average sinking more than 1,000 points.
