Putin calls US allegations of cyberattacks 'farcical'

Russian President Vladimir Putin denied Washington's allegations that Russian hackers are behind many cyberattacks targeting the United States, calling such claims "unfounded" and "farcical."

"We have been accused of all kinds of things," Putin said in an interview with NBC aired on Monday. "Election interference, cyberattacks and so on and so forth. And not once, not once, not one time, did they bother to produce any kind of evidence or proof. Just unfounded accusations," he added and expressed surprise that Moscow hasn't "yet been accused of provoking the Black Lives Matter movement."

Last week, the White House claimed Moscow is not responsible for the latest cyberattacks targeting American entities but is "accountable," alleging it doesn't do enough to prevent them.
