Putin, Lukashenko talk joint defense systems

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko discussed strengthening the two countries' joint defense systems, the latter's office announced on Tuesday.

The representatives stated the two leaders also discussed "the functioning of the tax system, cooperation in the military-industrial complex, [...] and the work of the media in present-day circumstances."

Earlier in the day, Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau said the European Union could impose new sanctions on Belarus over the country's repression of its opposition and media reporting on it.
