Putin nominates Mishustin for prime minister

Russian President Vladimir Putin nominated on Wednesday the head of the Federal Tax Service of Russia Mikhail Mishustin (pictured left) for the role of prime minister.

As per the Kremlin press service announcement, "President Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with Mikhail Mishustin and invited him to take the post of prime minister. With the consent, he submitted Mishustin’s candidacy for the post of prime minister for consideration by the State Duma."

Russian government resigned earlier today after Putin proposed the country's constitutional changes that would shift power from the president to the parliament and the prime minister.
