Report: US, Israel had secret meeting on Iran

The United States and Israel held a secret meeting last week on Iran and a potential "plan B" in case the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is not revived, Axios reported on Wednesday, citing sources from the Israeli government.

The meeting of the working group on the matter, titled Opal and founded during the presidency of Barack Obama, was allegedly held via a video call and led by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and his Israeli counterpart Eyal Hulata. During the encounter, Sullivan reportedly said Washington will impose additional sanctions on Tehran if it does not implement the JCPOA.

The report comes a day after US President Joe Biden said his country will honor the commitments it promised it will respect by signing the JCPOA if Iran does the same.
