Rio, Sao Paolo halt giving AZ jab to pregnant women

Brazilian cities Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo halted on Tuesday inoculating pregnant women with AstraZeneca PLC and Oxford University's vaccine against COVID-19 on the country's Health Regulatory Agency's (Anvisa) advice.

Anvisa recommended such a move amid investigations of whether the jab has any links to the death of a pregnant woman from Rio de Janerio, who reportedly passed after receiving it.

The news comes amid the European Medicines Agency's (EMA) examinations of potential rare nerve-degenerating disorder that some people got after getting AstraZeneca's vaccine. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom advised against inoculating persons younger than 40 with it.
