Rolls-Royce gets 7,000 engine order from Emirates

Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc said on Thursday it secured an order deal with Dubai's Emirates Group for 7,000 Trent engines to equip the carrier's 40 Airbus A330neo aircraft. Emirates also ordered 30 Airbus A350 planes, powered by Trend XWB engines. The deal also includes Rolls-Royce's TotalCare long term service support, the company said on its website.

Rolls-Royce stated that it will deliver 900 engines for 14 Airbus A380 aircraft, increasing the engine maker's participation in the Dubai carrier's A380 fleet to 33. Rolls-Royce President Chris Cholerton pointed out that the company will make engines for the remaining 17 Airbus 380 to be delivered to Emirates amid Airbus' decision to cease the A380 production starting 2021.

"We welcome the news that Emirates is further extending its relationship with Airbus and Rolls-Royce. The addition of Airbus A330-900 and Airbus A350-900 aircraft to the Emirates fleet will make the airline one of the largest users of Trent engines in the world and we look forward to continuing to support them and their customers," Cholerton commented.
