Rosneft denies it bought Venezuela's oil

Russian oil giant PJSC Rosneft Oil Co. issued a statement on Friday denying it has bought Venezuela's oil in breach of the United States sanctions against the Latin American country.

According to an earlier report from Reuters which cited invoices and sources, Venezuela's state-owned oil company Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA) has sold oil to Rosneft, which pays immediately at a discount to the sale price.

"We consider it necessary to turn to law enforcement agencies to prevent the pseudo-agency’s illegal activities in Russia,” Rosneft said in response to the report, accusing the London-based news agency of "systematically creating and disseminating disinformation, legalizing rumors in the interests of customers and inventing information to damage the Russian economy, companies and the state."

According to the local media, Rosneft plans to "contact" the Federal Security Service (FSB) for help in handling the situation.
