Ross: TikTok to shut down in US in November unless deal reached

United States Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said on Friday that TikTok will shut down in the US on November 12 unless the "national security concerns" the app poses are resolved by then.

Speaking to Fox Business, Ross noted that WeChat US will "for all practical purposes, will be shut down" on September 20. He added it will be up to Apple and Google to remove the apps from their stores.

The comments come after the US announced it will ban users from downloading and updating to the two apps, but noted those who already have TikTok on their devices will still be able to use it.
