Russia lifts COVID-19 border restrictions

Russia will lift restrictions on border crossings imposed amid the COVID-19 pandemic from July 15, the government revealed on its official website on Monday. The restrictions were imposed back in March 2020.

The decision was made after a regular meeting of the operational headquarters with deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova as the overall epidemic situation in Russia improved significantly over the past months.

On July 1, Russia's Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection (Rospotrebnadzor) had already announced the removal of the remaining COVID-19 restrictions in the country. Since the start of the pandemic up to July 3, there have been more than 18 million COVID-19 cases in Russia and almost 400,000 deaths.
