Russia's ruling party approves Mishustin as new PM

Russian ruling political party United Russia unanimously approved on Thursday the candidacy of the current head of the Federal Tax Service of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin (pictured), for the position of prime minister.

Russian President Vladimir Putin nominated Mishustin on Wednesday for the prime minister role. Mishustin will, therefore, replace Dmitry Medvedev who earlier announced the country's government has resigned.

Earlier yesterday, Putin proposed the country's constitutional changes that would shift power from the president to the parliament and the prime minister.
