Russia seeking to fully capture Donetsk, UK says
The British Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that Russia has been seeking to restart major military operations in Ukraine since January in order to fully obtain control over the disputed region of Donetsk.
In an intelligence update on the situation in Ukraine, the ministry noted that the Russian forces are making little progress due to a lack of ammunition and experienced units. Commenting on the outlook, the report concluded that it is unlikely Russia will be able to significantly affect the war in the upcoming weeks.
The war between Ukraine and Russia is nearing a full year, and will mark its first anniversary on February 24.
