Russia targets 43 Canadians with sanctions

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that it introduced sanctions against 43 Canadian citizens.

Among those targeted by the new measures are federal and regional officials. The ministry noted the sanctions were imposed in response to Ottawa's measures against Russian companies and citizens introduced in May.

Moscow claimed that it "reserves the right to take countermeasures in response to openly hostile actions of Ottawa" since Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is stubbornly pursuing a course of militant Russophobia.
