Russia to question Google over foreign interference

The Russian State Duma will question representatives of Google as part of their investigation into foreign interferences in Russia's internal affairs, RIA reported on Thursday.

According to the reports, the meeting will be held tomorrow, April 16, with the chair of Duma's investigation commission, Vasily Piskarev, stating that "we have collected materials, we have grounds to conduct a similar dialogue with them [Google], to demand compliance with the laws," adding that the company fully complied with the commission's request.

Russia has been cracking down on social media and tech companies lately, with TikTok having similar meetings with the members of Duma after being fined for not removing videos urging people to join anti-government protests. Twitter Inc. was also under fire in the country with the company being fined and a traffic speed limit imposed on its platform over not removing disputed data.
