Russia: West trying to escalate Ukraine conflict
The Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Maria Zakharova remarked on Friday that the decisions to send Leopard 2 and Abrams tanks to Ukraine prove that the West does not want to solve the conflict in Ukraine diplomatically but rather to escalate it.
"Their main task is to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia. To achieve this goal, the United States and its allies continue to pump weapons into the Nazi Kiev regime, [and] for this they are ready to sacrifice all of Ukraine [...] Nobody in Washington and Brussels cares about the people's interests. Zelensky doesn't care about people at all," she told the press.
Her remarks came after German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated during the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) that her country and its allies are at war with Russia. Meanwhile, the European Union insisted the West is sending weapons to Ukraine just to help it defend itself, not to escalate the tensions.
