Russia won’t allow US to privatize Moon - Roscosmos

Russia will strongly disagree with any attempts from the United States to privatize the Moon, Russia's Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin stated on Monday. The state space agency head added that any such attempts would be against norms of international law.

Meanwhile, commenting on Russia’s space program, Rogozin also stressed the Moscow wants to start building a new space station as the International Space Station only has about 10 years of use left in it. However, he noted that it remains undecided if the space station would be national or international, like the current one.

Earlier, the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) said it would allow commercial use of the ISS from 2020 and President Donald Trump is set to join the first private space mission launch by SpaceX. The company’s owner Elon Musk has been the target of Roscosmos criticism earlier as Rogozin accused him on wanting to militarize space.
